Commending Linda Peace.

WHEREAS, Linda Peace, an esteemed educator and principal of Keene Mill Elementary School in West Springfield, who has devoted 35 years to Fairfax County Public Schools, will retire on August 1, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace joined Fairfax County Public Schools in 1991 as a teacher and subsequently served in a wide range of capacities including as school counselor, college partnership high school specialist, LEAD Fairfax program intern, human resources special project manager, and extended school year principal; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace began her administrative career as an acting assistant principal at Marshall Road Elementary School, and served as assistant principal at Shrevewood Elementary School, Fort Belvoir Elementary School, and Clermont Elementary School before being selected as principal of Keene Mill Elementary School in 2021; and

WHEREAS, a proud graduate of Hampton University, Linda Peace earned her degree in 1990 and has remained actively involved in the university's alumni community, including serving as a past president of the alumni chapter in Prince George's County, Maryland, and as an active member of the Northern Virginia alumni chapter and its scholarship committee; and

WHEREAS, at Keene Mill Elementary School, Linda Peace has cultivated a welcoming and supportive school environment by maintaining a visible presence throughout the building, stopping frequently to check in with students, teachers, and staff and ensuring that every member of the school community feels valued and heard; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace has led with care, compassion, and professionalism, consistently demonstrating grace, kindness, flexibility, and a calm demeanor while guiding her school community; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace has been a dedicated advocate for students, emphasizing the importance of meeting each child where they are academically and emotionally and using careful analysis of data to guide instruction and support the success of all learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace works closely with teachers to promote strong instructional practices, supporting the development of curriculum maps and pacing guides, and she helps educators identify students who need additional support and implement effective interventions; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace also recognizes the importance of strong partnerships between schools, families, and the broader community to support positive educational outcomes for students, and she encourages students to give back to their community; and

WHEREAS, under Linda Peace's leadership, Keene Mill Elementary School has continued to excel, earning recognition as one of Virginia's top-ranked elementary schools and achieving the designation of “Distinguished” in the Virginia School Quality Profiles; and

WHEREAS, Linda Peace has embodied the ideals of the education profession throughout her distinguished career, earning the respect and admiration of students, families, colleagues, and the wider Fairfax County community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Linda Peace, principal of Keene Mill Elementary School, hereby be commended for her legacy of service with Fairfax County Public Schools on the occasion of her retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Linda Peace as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth and best wishes for a joyful and fulfilling retirement.
