Commending the Oscar F. Smith High School football team.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, the Oscar F. Smith High School football team of Chesapeake won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship on December 13, 2025, at James Madison University; and
WHEREAS, the Oscar Smith High School Tigers defeated the North Stafford High School Wolverines by a score of 44–0 to bring home the program's second consecutive state championship title and its sixth title overall; and
WHEREAS, the Oscar Smith Tigers dominated in all phases of the game, rushing for a total of 208 yards while holding their opponent to only 148 total yards; and
WHEREAS, after losing their first game of the season, the Oscar Smith Tigers regrouped and won 13 straight to end the season with an impressive 13–1 record; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Oscar Smith Tigers are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Oscar Smith High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Oscar F. Smith High School football team hereby be commended for winning the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chris Scott, head coach of the Oscar F. Smith High School football team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
