WHEREAS, for 95 years, Bell's Fine Clothing, owned and operated by the Shendow family, has provided high-quality apparel and services to the residents of Winchester and the surrounding region; and
WHEREAS, Bell's Fine Clothing traces its roots to the visionary entrepreneur Sam Shendow, who began building a loyal clientele in the Shenandoah Valley as early as 1929; and
WHEREAS, by 1931, Sam Shendow formally established his Winchester store under the distinguished name “Bell's,” thereby creating a family-owned business founded on the twin pillars of quality apparel and personalized service; and
WHEREAS, since that time, Bell's Fine Clothing has provided fine tailored suits and apparel, offering a level of craftsmanship, customer attention, and a sense of continuity that is increasingly rare in modern retail; and
WHEREAS, now in its third generation of family management, Bell's Fine Clothing, located at 122 North Loudoun Street, remains a hallmark of Winchester's historic downtown district and a fixture of the community's economic vitality and character; and
WHEREAS, on the occasion of this milestone 95-year celebration, Bell's Fine Clothing stands not only as a business success, but as a testament to continuity, local enterprise, and the enduring value of family legacy in Winchester and throughout the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Bell's Fine Clothing hereby be commended on the occasion of its 95th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Shendow family, owners of Bell's Fine Clothing, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the business's longstanding contributions to the Winchester community.
