Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 16, 2026
WHEREAS, the Hanover High School boys' volleyball team of Mechanicsville won the Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship on November 22, 2025, at Virginia State University; and
WHEREAS, the Hanover Hawks defeated the Atlee High School Raiders of Hanover County three sets to one to bring home the program's first Class 4 state championship title; and
WHEREAS, after dropping the first set 25–20, the Hanover Hawks showed exceptional grit and determination as they regrouped and rallied to win the next three sets; and
WHEREAS, the Hanover Hawks' victory was a total team effort, led by Joshua Seifert and Slade Alexander, who had 18 digs and 13 digs, respectively; and
WHEREAS, the championship win was a triumphant finish for the Hanover Hawks, who had split four matches earlier in the season with the Atlee Raiders, their local rival, and who had dropped three straight matches at the beginning of the season before ultimately posting an impressive 19–6 record; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Hanover Hawks are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Hanover High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Hanover High School boys' volleyball team hereby be commended for winning the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 4 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Hilary Cassil, head coach of the Hanover High School boys' volleyball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
