Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 16, 2026
WHEREAS, Cameran Drew, a student at Virginia Peninsula Community College and lifelong resident of Surry County, was elected in November 2025 to represent the Dendron District on the Surry County Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, Cameran Drew narrowly won by eight votes and became the youngest supervisor in the history of the Surry County Board of Supervisors at only 19 years of age; and
WHEREAS, Cameran Drew defeated the incumbent, interim supervisor Kenneth Bell, who was also remarkably his government and civics teacher when he was a student at Surry County High School; and
WHEREAS, Cameran Drew's historic victory and his amicable relationship with his challenger, who he credits with guiding his political aspirations, have drawn attention from national news sources such as
The New York Times
and
CBS News
; and
WHEREAS, Cameran Drew worked tirelessly during his campaign to share his vision for Surry County with voters, regularly going door-to-door and attending community events whenever possible; and
WHEREAS, in addition to studying business administration at Virginia Peninsula Community College, Cameran Drew is the founder of Prez Productions, an apparel and motivational speaking business that supports philanthropic and youth mentorship initiatives through the Produce Your Future Foundation; and
WHEREAS, with great energy, enthusiasm, and passion for helping his community, Cameran Drew shows great promise to make a profound and lasting impact in Surry County and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Cameran Drew hereby be commended for being elected to serve on the Surry County Board of Supervisors; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cameran Drew as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievement and best wishes for his success.
