Commending the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter.

WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter has inspired young men at what is today Virginia State University to achieve their full potential and grow into the leaders of tomorrow; and
WHEREAS, chartered on December 22, 1926, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter is rooted in the organization's core principles of “Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind”; and
WHEREAS, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter has established its reputation as a force for good in the community through several signature programs, including Barbershop Talk, its weekly Motivational Monday videos, and the Virginia College Alpha Phi Alpha Forum, an initiative to promote collaboration between the different Alpha Phi Alpha chapters in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter has addressed the needs of individuals while fostering unity by supporting local and national endeavors, such as Go-To-High-School; Go-To-College; Brother's Keeper; Pass the Plate; a Thanksgiving food drive; financial literacy workshops; and the Golden Gala; and
WHEREAS, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter has promoted health and wellness in the community through programs, such as Workout with the Alphas; Alphas Go Pink; and Rock-A-Thon; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of its accomplishments in the pursuit of its mission, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter was recognized by the Virginia Association of Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity in both 2025 and 2026 as the District Outstanding Chapter of the Year, the Eastern Regional Outstanding Chapter of the Year, and the International Outstanding College Chapter of the Year; and
WHEREAS, through its achievements in molding young men and uplifting individuals and families in need, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter has made a profound and lasting impact at Virginia State University and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter for its legacy of service, leadership, and brotherhood on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Beta Gamma Chapter as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's contributions to Virginia State University and the Commonwealth.
