WHEREAS, the Marion Senior High School girls' tennis team won the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship at Liberty University in Lynchburg on June 12, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the Marion Senior High School Scarlet Hurricanes defeated the Central High School Falcons of Woodstock by a score of 5–0 to secure the program's third consecutive state championship title; and
WHEREAS, the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes' roster included Ava Austin, Maddie Austin, Hope Robinson, Bailey Russell, Hailey Watkins, and Parker White, who were led by coaches Doug Grubb and Mike Robinson; and
WHEREAS, along with the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes' team championship title, Ava Austin and Parker White won the Virginia High School League girls' doubles title and Parker White finished runner-up in the singles competition; and
WHEREAS, the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes' success is the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Marion Senior High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Marion Senior High School girls' tennis team for winning the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Marion Senior High School girls' tennis team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements.
