WHEREAS, Charles Harry Carrico, Jr., an active member of the Smyth County community who was well known for his craftsmanship as a drywall contractor, died on October 26, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Charles “June” Carrico grew up in Chilhowie and was the eldest of eight children born to Jake and Mary Carrico; he was a caring and attentive big brother, who proudly supported his siblings in all their endeavors; and
WHEREAS, June Carrico made his career as a drywaller, and provided his services to numerous homeowners, businesses, and churches in the region; he often worked with his brothers, David and Calvin, and relished opportunities to bring his nephews and grandchildren to jobs; and
WHEREAS, June Carrico took pride in his work and was highly admired for his skill and attention to detail; his signature radiating plaster design adorns many homes in Southwest Virginia and is instantly recognizable to anyone who worked with him over the years; and
WHEREAS, June Carrico expressed his deep and abiding faith through his compassion and generosity; he was a member of several church communities and held leadership positions as a church elder and mentor; and
WHEREAS, June Carrico's greatest joy in life was his family, and he was ever ready to guide his children and grandchildren through any challenge with a calming word and a gentle hand, imparting to them in the process his determination, confidence, and quiet strength; and
WHEREAS, June Carrico will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife of 68 years, Alda; his children, Mary, Bill, Danny, and Pam, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Charles Harry Carrico, Jr., a respected member of the Smyth County community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Charles Harry Carrico, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
