WHEREAS, Kevin Lee Hughart, a retired member of the Prince William County Police Department who served the community with the utmost distinction for more than 35 years, died on July 24, 2025; and
WHEREAS, a native of Indiana, Kevin Hughart served his country as a member of the United States Army after he graduated from high school and was stationed at what is now Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall with the 3rd Infantry Regiment, also known as “The Old Guard”; and
WHEREAS, after his honorable military service, Kevin Hughart began a career in law enforcement, joining the Prince William County Police Department in December 1989; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Hughart steadily rose through the ranks over the years and was ultimately promoted to major and selected as assistant chief of operations; over the course of his career, he held positions in the patrol division, criminal investigations division, honor guard, and search and rescue team; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Hughart received several commendations for his outstanding achievements and was highly admired by his colleagues for his work ethic and dedication to duty; and
WHEREAS, an accomplished world traveler, Kevin Hughart visited Iceland, France, Italy, and Greece along with many destinations in the United States, including several national parks; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Hughart will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of 35 years, Robin; his sons, Alec and Ethan, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Kevin Lee Hughart, a highly admired former law-enforcement officer in Prince William County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Kevin Lee Hughart as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
