WHEREAS, Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant, a beloved bar and restaurant in the Crystal City neighborhood of Arlington, celebrated its 25th anniversary on March 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, billed as an “LGBTQ+, straight friendly restaurant and bar,” Freddie's Beach Bar was opened by owner Freddie Lutz in 2001 and has over the years established itself as an institution of the Arlington nightlife scene; and
WHEREAS, Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant hosts nightly karaoke, drag performances, brunches, and more and brings people together on many celebratory occasions for great food and good times; and
WHEREAS, building off its success in Arlington, Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant expanded in recent years to a second location in Rehoboth Beach, where it has quickly become a favorite place for the community to gather; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant are the result of the visionary leadership of its owner, Freddie Lutz, the hard work and dedication of its staff, including longtime manager Tony Rivenbark, and the unwavering support of its patrons and the Arlington County community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Freddie's Beach Bar and Restaurant as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the establishment's contributions to Arlington County and the Commonwealth.
