WHEREAS, the Mountain View High School competition cheer squad of Stafford County won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship at Virginia Commonwealth University's Stuart C. Siegel Center in Richmond on November 8, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the Mountain View High School Wildcats received 287.75 points in the competition, outscoring the runner-up Battlefield High School Bobcats of Haymarket by 12 points to bring home the first state championship in program history; and
WHEREAS, the Mountain View Wildcats impressed judges with their masterfully synchronized and choreographed routine and exceptional display of finesse and acrobatic ability; and
WHEREAS, the Mountain View Wildcats' win was a total team effort, led by EJ Fentrese, the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 Player of the Year, and Lauren Hilbert, the VHSL Class 6 Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the Mountain View Wildcats' triumph provided a moment of redemption for a program that had fallen just short of a championship title in 2016, when it finished in second place in the state competition; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Mountain View Wildcats are the result of the teamwork and dedication of the student-cheerleaders, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Mountain View High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Mountain View High School competition cheer squad for winning the 2025 Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lauren Hilbert, coach of the Mountain View High School competition cheer squad, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
