WHEREAS, the Briar Woods High School competition cheer team won the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship in 2025; and
WHEREAS, the Briar Woods High School competition cheer team defeated the second-place team from Deep Run High School by more than 18 points with a score of 279.5; and
WHEREAS, Briar Woods High School senior Sydney Hurst was selected as the Class 5 Player of the Year, while Tess Webb was selected as the Class 5 Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, Sydney Hurst, junior Jada Monton, and senior Ella Stevons were all selected as members of the Class 5 All-State First Team; and
WHEREAS, the victorious season is a tribute to the skill and dedication of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the passionate support of the entire Briar Woods High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Briar Woods High School competition cheer team on winning the Virginia High School League Class 5 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tess Webb, head coach of the Briar Woods High School competition cheer team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements.
