WHEREAS, Brody Dawyot of Roanoke County, the quarterback of the Glenvar High School football team, set a new Virginia High School League record by throwing 135 career touchdown passes; and
WHEREAS, Brody Dawyot broke the previous Virginia High School League career touchdown pass record during a tremendous 2025 season, when he led the Glenvar High School Highlanders to an undefeated regular season record, the Three Rivers District championship, and the Region 2C championship; and
WHEREAS, much of Brody Dawyot's success on the field is linked to his deep bond with his brother, wide receiver Tre Dawyot; the pair, who became brothers through adoption in 2014, have developed a great “pass-and-catch” tandem that has bedeviled defenses across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Brody Dawyot's contributions to the Glenvar Highlanders in all three phases of football were recognized with 2025 All-State First Team designations at the positions of quarterback and defensive line and an All-State Second Team designation as a punter; he was also recognized as the Three Rivers District and Region 2C Offensive Player of the Year and the Region 2C Defensive Player of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the achievements of Brody Dawyot are a testament to his discipline, the support of his parents, Tam and Grant Dawyot, the guidance of his coaches, and the camaraderie of his teammates; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Brody Dawyot for his record-breaking career as quarterback of the Glenvar High School football team; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brody Dawyot as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his historic accomplishments and best wishes for his future endeavors.
