WHEREAS, La Bravia J. Jenkins, a respected jurist and dedicated public servant in the City of Fredericksburg, died on February 28, 2026, leaving a lasting impact on the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, La Bravia Jenkins served as the elected Commonwealth's Attorney for the City of Fredericksburg from 2008 through 2021, leading the office with professionalism and skill; she also previously served as an assistant Commonwealth's Attorney and supervising prosecutor in that office; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, La Bravia Jenkins supported efforts to address the root causes of crime, including substance abuse and mental health challenges, and worked to promote fairness and accountability within the criminal justice system; and
WHEREAS, La Bravia Jenkins advocated for victims of crime, including children and survivors of domestic violence, and played an instrumental role in the community initiative that established the Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center, which serves child abuse victims in Fredericksburg and the surrounding region; and
WHEREAS, La Bravia Jenkins served in leadership roles in the Virginia Association of Commonwealth's Attorneys and was recognized for her distinguished service with the Robert F. Horan Award in 2017; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her contributions to the legal profession, La Bravia Jenkins was inducted into the Virginia Lawyers Hall of Fame in 2019; and
WHEREAS, beyond her professional service, La Bravia Jenkins mentored young attorneys and civic leaders and remained active in the Fredericksburg community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of La Bravia J. Jenkins, whose life of leadership and service to the City of Fredericksburg and the Commonwealth inspired all who knew her; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of La Bravia J. Jenkins as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
