Celebrating the life of the Honorable Harry Fleisher Collins, Jr.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Harry Fleisher Collins, Jr., a dedicated Christiansburg community leader and tireless advocate for organ transplant recipients, died on March 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Harry Collins' great enthusiasm for the community was recognized by his Christiansburg neighbors when they elected him to Town Council; and
WHEREAS, among his many contributions to the Town of Christiansburg, Harry Collins played an integral role in the development and realization of Huckleberry Park, a landmark project that provides recreational opportunities and improves the quality of life for families throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, Harry Collins was an active member of the Montgomery County Republican Committee where he happily organized local campaign efforts and enthusiastically introduced his neighbors to candidates; and
WHEREAS, following his own profound health journey, Harry Collins turned his personal challenges into a mission of hope, serving as President of the Lung Transplant Foundation; and
WHEREAS, in his leadership role with the Lung Transplant Foundation, Harry Collins advocated tirelessly for patients and their families, working to raise awareness for organ donation and providing a roadmap of support for those walking a similar path; and
WHEREAS, Harry Collins' life was defined by his enthusiasm for the community, compassion, and his resilience; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby celebrate the life and contributions of the Honorable Harry Fleisher Collins, Jr., a dedicated Christiansburg community leader and tireless advocate for organ transplant recipients; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of the Honorable Harry Fleisher Collins, Jr., as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory and gratitude for his years of service to the Town of Christiansburg and the Commonwealth.
