Commending Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors.

WHEREAS, Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors of the Monacan High School boys' tennis team won the Virginia High School League Class 4 doubles tennis state championship on June 14, 2025, after going undefeated during the regular season and the playoffs; and
WHEREAS, the victory by Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors marked the second consecutive state doubles championship for the Monacan High School boys' tennis team in this category, having also won in 2024; and
WHEREAS, during their run to the state championship, Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors did not lose a set in five matches, and they defeated the number one and number two seeds in the Region 4B tournament to claim the regional title; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of their achievements, both Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors were named to the all-county tennis team; and
WHEREAS, Izaak Brown was enrolled at the Health Professions and Therapies Specialty Center based at Monacan High School, served as president of the National Honor Society, and graduated in 2025 as the salutatorian of his class; he matriculated at The College of William and Mary in the fall of 2025; and
WHEREAS, Cole Lafors was a sophomore during the 2024–2025 school year and is currently enrolled at Monacan High School's Center for the Humanities Specialty Center; and
WHEREAS, both Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors have been praised by their coach as true student-athletes, who demonstrate good sportsmanship on the court, as well as commitment to academic achievement; and
WHEREAS, the Brown and Lafors families have deep roots in the Monacan tennis community and have been longtime supporters of the tennis program; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors for their dedication, tenacity, and exemplary work ethic on the occasion of their victory in the Virginia High School League Class 4 doubles tennis state championship in 2025; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Izaak Brown and Cole Lafors as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for their athletic accomplishments and best wishes for continued success in all their endeavors.
