Celebrating the life of Ted D. Elliott.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 10, 2026
WHEREAS, Ted D. Elliott, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and active and beloved member of the Amelia County community, died on December 11, 2025; and
WHEREAS, growing up in Mecklenburg County as the oldest of nine children, Ted Elliott left school in eighth grade to support his mother after his father got sick; and
WHEREAS, Ted Elliott later settled in Amelia County and dedicated himself to raising his four children alongside his wife, Barbara; and
WHEREAS, Ted Elliott demonstrated remarkable integrity and work ethic throughout his career, which included 37 years at the Alleghany Warehouse Company storing tobacco for Philip Morris and eight years at Longwood University supporting a refuse collection service; and
WHEREAS, Ted Elliott never hesitated to help a friend or neighbor in need, and he was a gifted storyteller whose warm and affable nature endeared him to everyone he met; and
WHEREAS, Ted Elliott's joys in life included studying history, spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening, and, above all else, making cherished memories with family and loved ones; and
WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his deep and abiding faith, Ted Elliott regularly studied the Bible and was a devoted member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Amelia County for more than 70 years, where he served as both a trustee and deacon; and
WHEREAS, Ted Elliott will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 67 years, Barbara, his children and grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Ted D. Elliott, a treasured member of the Amelia County community whose love, faith, and devotion will forever inspire all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ted D. Elliott as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
