WHEREAS, Bob Holsworth, one of the leading political analysts in the Commonwealth, has contributed greatly to the Virginia Commission on Civic Education's annual Teacher Summit on Civic Education; and
WHEREAS, Bob Holsworth is the author of five books and numerous articles on public policy and American politics, and he was the founding director of both the L. Douglas Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs and its Center for Public Policy at Virginia Commonwealth University; and
WHEREAS, Bob Holsworth's comments on Virginia and national politics have been featured in the country's most prestigious newspapers, and he has appeared on several major American television networks and the BBC; and
WHEREAS, Bob Holsworth is currently a managing principal at DecideSmart, a firm that provides analysis and planning assistance to agencies, local governments, nonprofits, and private sector companies with governmental interests; and
WHEREAS, the Commission on Civic Education was established by the General Assembly in 2005, and it produces an annual Teacher Summit on Civic Education each year soon after the November election that brings together Virginia educators to discuss strategies for improving civic education in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Bob Holsworth has attended and presented at every one of the Commission on Civic Education's Teacher Summits since 2006; in recent years, he has collaborated with Quentin Kidd to do an in-depth analysis of the most recent election, which has become a treasured highlight of the summit over the years; and
WHEREAS, by giving generously of his time and expertise, Bob Holsworth has helped to ensure the Commission on Civic Education's Teacher Summit on Civic Education is a great success year after year; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Bob Holsworth hereby be commended for his efforts with the Commission on Civic Education's annual Teacher Summit on Civic Education; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bob Holsworth as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his contributions to civic education in the Commonwealth.
