WHEREAS, Kurt Rose, a highly admired community leader in Fairfax County, was selected as the 2026 Citizen of the Year by the Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston; and
WHEREAS, known for his kindness, leadership, and deep commitment to service, Kurt Rose embodies the very spirit of Rotary International's motto, “Service Above Self”; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Rose has worked tirelessly to strengthen the Herndon and Reston communities through his passion for education, literacy, and youth development; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Rose has given generously of his time and resources to support many organizations, including Kids-R-First and its annual Golf Classic, the Lake Anne Cardboard Boat Regatta, the South Lakes High School PTSA Food Pantry, Cornerstones, the Reston YMCA, the Reston Historic Trust & Museum, the South Lakes High School band, and the Herndon High School band; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Rose co-founded and currently leads the RoSigle Community Giving Foundation, raising funds and awareness to expand access to books and literacy programs for families in need; and
WHEREAS, through his leadership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Herndon and Reston, Kurt Rose has helped bring the gift of books into the hands of thousands of young children, fostering a love of reading and opening doors of opportunity for families throughout the region; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Rose has leveraged his business, Aspen Jewelry Designs, as a platform for community giving by donating items, supporting fundraisers, and helping charitable organizations expand their reach and impact; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Rose was previously honored with the 2019 Best of Reston Award for Community Service, presented by Cornerstones, in recognition of his generosity and sustained commitment to the Reston community; and
WHEREAS, Kurt Rose was also honored by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors as Lord Fairfax in 2022; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Kurt Rose hereby be commended on the occasion of his selection as the 2026 Citizen of the Year by the Rotary Club of Herndon-Reston; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kurt Rose as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his legacy of contributions to the residents of Herndon and Reston.
