Commending American Legion Post 88.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 12, 2026
WHEREAS, American Legion Post 88 of Suffolk, a post within the largest veterans service organization in the United States, has played an outsized role in advocating for and supporting veterans, service members, and military families; and
WHEREAS, American Legion Post 88 holds a number of annual events and fundraisers to advance its mission of serving the veteran community and active-duty servicemen; and
WHEREAS, among its charity events, American Legion Post 88 hosts an annual golf tournament to raise funds to benefit veterans and advance community projects; it further supports the community by sponsoring two high school students to attend Virginia Boys State of the American Legion each year, as well as by offering one-on-one coaching for students interested in competing in the American Legion's National High School Oratorical Contest; and
WHEREAS, since its charter in January 2009, American Legion Post 88 has welcomed veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces; and
WHEREAS, American Legion Post 88 continues to encourage and enable all veterans and military personnel to join in serving the Suffolk community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That American Legion Post 88 hereby be commended for its legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to American Legion Post 88 as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's contributions to Suffolk and the Commonwealth.
