Commending the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant.

WHEREAS, the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant, administered by the Suffolk Foundation, supports residents and families in Suffolk, Franklin, Southampton County, and Isle of Wight County who are facing poverty, hardship, and other struggles by providing an annual grant to a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit for the provision of food, clothing, shelter, and medical care; and
WHEREAS, the endowment for the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant was bequeathed by Brenda Ward Bradshaw of Southampton County, who, with her husband, Elmer “Tres” Amos Bradshaw III of Franklin, was known for sharing her faith, kindness, and generosity within her community; the endowment was given to “provide relief to the poor, distressed, or underprivileged”; and
WHEREAS, the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant was created with the intent to launch and expand initiatives for new, positive, and quantifiable change for individuals and families; and
WHEREAS, the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant enables nonprofits to provide necessities to the region's most vulnerable citizens, demonstrably improving the lives of the region's community members; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant, administered by the Suffolk Foundation, be commended for its contributions to the welfare of the citizens of Suffolk, Franklin, Southampton County, and Isle of Wight County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Bradshaw Benevolence Grant, administered by the Suffolk Foundation, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's contributions to the Commonwealth.
