Commending the Churchland High School boys' track and field team.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, the Churchland High School boys' track and field team won the Virginia High School League Class 4 indoor state championship on March 3, 2026, at Liberty University; and
WHEREAS, the Churchland High School Truckers showed depth and balance as the team collectively tallied the highest number of points in the competition to bring home the first state championship title in school history; and
WHEREAS, the Churchland Truckers were led to victory by Corye Richardson, who placed first in the 55-meter hurdles event with a meet-record time of 7.21 seconds and who also finished third in the 55-meter dash; and
WHEREAS, the Churchland Truckers also benefited from standout performances by its 4 x 200-meter relay team, which included Corye Richardson, Jeremiah Folk, Sykes Hunter, and Troy Nowlin, as well as by Aaron Stokes, who placed third in the shot put event; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Churchland Truckers are the result of the determination and hard work of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Churchland High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Churchland High School boys' track and field team hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 4 indoor state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Churchland High School boys' track and field team as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
