WHEREAS, the King's Fork High School girls' wrestling team earned two individual state titles at the Virginia High School League girls' wrestling state championship in 2026; and
WHEREAS, King's Fork High School senior Hayden Mayo won an individual state championship in the 152-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, King's Fork High School sophomore Akaila Gray won an individual state championship in the 235-pound weight class; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Mayo and Akaila Gray became only the second and third individual girls' state wrestling champions in school history, setting an example for other student-athletes in the growing sport; and
WHEREAS, Hayden Mayo and Akaila Gray's victories demonstrated the overall commitment to excellence of the King's Fork High School girls' wrestling program, and their success brought immense pride to King's Fork High School and the Suffolk community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the King's Fork High School girls' wrestling team hereby be commended for its performance at the Virginia High School League girls' wrestling state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the King's Fork High School girls' wrestling team as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the team's athletic achievements.
