Commending the Brunswick High School girls' track and field team.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, the Brunswick High School girls' track and field team finished runner-up at the Virginia High School League Class 1 indoor state championships on March 5, 2026, at Liberty University; and
WHEREAS, the Brunswick High School Bulldogs tallied 58 points to finish second overall among the Virginia High School League Class 1 high school teams at the state championship meet; and
WHEREAS, the Brunswick Bulldogs were led by strong performances from its 4 x 200-meter relay team, which placed first in its event and set a state championship meet record with a time of 1:52.10, and its 4 x 400-meter relay team, which also finished first in its event and set a meet record with a time of 4:22.23; and
WHEREAS, the Brunswick Bulldogs' victory was a total team effort, led by Destnee Bullock, who scored 20 points for her team by placing second in the 55-meter hurdles event, fourth in the long jump, fifth in the triple jump, and sixth in the 55-meter dash; and
WHEREAS, the Brunswick Bulldogs were also lifted by Jada Seaborn, who scored 14 points by placing second in the 500-meter dash and third in the 300-meter dash, and Alana Moore, who scored four points with a fifth place finish in the 300-meter dash; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Brunswick Bulldogs are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Brunswick High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Brunswick High School girls' track and field team hereby be commended for finishing runner-up at the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 1 indoor state championships; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Darrell Owens, head coach of the Brunswick High School girls' track and field team, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for their achievements and best wishes for the program's continued success.
