WHEREAS, T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D., has greatly served communities in the Commonwealth and beyond as the founder and editor-in-chief of the
South Asian Herald
; and
WHEREAS, Vishnudatta Jayaraman founded the
South Asian Herald
in October 2024 with a mission to establish a news outlet that would serve as an authentic voice of the South Asian community in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Vishnudatta Jayaraman ensured the success of the
South Asian Herald
by placing great emphasis on timely, fact-based reporting and by covering a variety of matters of interest to the community, from local events to international geopolitical concerns; and
WHEREAS, Vishnudatta Jayaraman is an accredited journalist who has advanced his field as a member of the White House Correspondents' Association, the National Press Club, the South Asian Journalists Association, and the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in the United States; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the
South Asian Herald
, Vishnudatta Jayaraman has previously worked with the
Hindustan Times
and as a contributing editor for
The Yearbook of the United Nations
; and

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D., hereby be commended for his commitment to excellence in journalism and his service to the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to T. Vishnudatta Jayaraman, Ph.D., as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth.
