Commending the Bangla Literature Festival.
Agreed to by the Senate, March 13, 2026
WHEREAS, the Bangla Literature Festival, which serves as a vibrant platform to showcase the language, literature, and cultural heritage of Bangladesh to an international audience, will hold its second annual event on May 29–30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, building on the success of the inaugural event in 2025, the 2026 edition of the Bangla Literature Festival will expand beyond books to feature literary panels, author dialogues, music, fashion, visual arts, storytelling sessions, and cultural exhibitions; and
WHEREAS, Bangladeshi novelist Sadat Hossain will appear as a distinguished guest, alongside prominent writers, scholars, artists, and cultural leaders from North America and Bangladesh; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Bangla Literature Festival hereby be commended for supporting cultural enrichment in Northern Virginia; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the organizers of the Bangla Literature Festival as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the event's important role in strengthening ties between the Bangladeshi diaspora and the broader community in the Commonwealth.
