Commending St. George Brewing Company.
Agreed to by the Senate, February 5, 2026
WHEREAS, in 2025, St. George Brewing Company of Hampton received the prestigious Best of Show award at the Virginia Craft Beer Cup, which brings together exceptional breweries from across the Commonwealth to showcase and celebrate the highest quality and craftsmanship in independent craft beer; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild has hosted the Virginia Craft Beer Cup since 2012 to provide its member breweries with opportunities to compete, receive constructive feedback from certified judges, gain statewide brand recognition, and strengthen sales and taproom visitation; and
WHEREAS, St. George Brewing Company was one of hundreds of brewers that competed in 31 beer style categories at the 2025 Virginia Craft Beer Cup, which is not only the Commonwealth's premier statewide beer competition, but the largest state competition of its kind in the United States; and
WHEREAS, St. George Brewing Company earned the 2025 Best of Show award for Knight's Respite, a hefeweizen in the American Wheat/German Weiss category; and
WHEREAS, this prestigious honor reflects St. George Brewing Company's commitment to brewing excellence, technical mastery, and creative innovation, distinguishing it among the Commonwealth's most talented craft brewers; and
WHEREAS, St. George Brewing Company has a long and storied history in Virginia's craft beer landscape as one of the oldest continuously operating breweries in the Commonwealth, having been established in the Kecoughtan area of Hampton in 1998; it has earned many other accolades for its outstanding beers and community-oriented taproom experience; and
WHEREAS, this achievement brings well-deserved recognition to St. George Brewing Company's brewers, staff, and supporters, who represent the best of the Commonwealth's vibrant and growing independent craft beer community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That St. George Brewing Company hereby be commended on winning the Best of Show award at the 2025 Virginia Craft Beer Cup; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to St. George Brewing Company as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the company's contributions to the Commonwealth's independent craft beer industry.
