Commending the Virginia Housing Alliance.
Agreed to by the Senate, February 12, 2026
WHEREAS, for 10 years, the Virginia Housing Alliance has focused on expanding affordable housing opportunities and ending homelessness in the Commonwealth through advocacy, education, and capacity building; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Housing Alliance was formed on January 1, 2016, through a merger of the Virginia Housing Coalition and the Virginia Coalition to End Homelessness; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Housing Alliance has a strong track record of advocating for the expansion of housing opportunities, educating the public about housing challenges in Virginia, and helping build the organizational capacity of housing nonprofits across the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Housing Alliance AmeriCorps VISTA program, through the service of its 110 VISTA members, has provided capacity-building support to 1,212 organizations across the Commonwealth and facilitated the recruitment of 1,355 community volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Housing Alliance established and currently facilitates the Housing Leadership Institute to deepen leadership skills for housing professionals dedicated to shaping inclusive systems that truly serve their communities; and
WHEREAS, through training sessions and in-person conferences, the Virginia Housing Alliance has provided thousands of hours of professional development opportunities to housing professionals across the Commonwealth since 2016; and
WHEREAS, in partnership with elected and appointed officials across the Commonwealth, the Virginia Housing Alliance has successfully advocated to expand housing opportunities through new policies and investment; and
WHEREAS, more than 25,000 Virginians have a safe, affordable place to call home due to the Virginia Housing Alliance and its members' tireless efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Housing Alliance will commemorate its 10th anniversary with special events throughout 2026; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Virginia Housing Alliance hereby be commended on the occasion of its 10th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Brian Koziol, executive director of the Virginia Housing Alliance, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's significant contributions to housing solutions in the Commonwealth.
