Commending Nottoway House Furniture.
Agreed to by the Senate, February 26, 2026
WHEREAS, Nottoway House Furniture, a family-owned home furnishing business in Courtland, closed after 70 years of exceptional service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Nottoway House Furniture was founded in October 1955 by Junius Pulley and his son, Graham Pulley, with a mission to provide fine furnishings to home owners and businesses at a fair price; and
WHEREAS, Graham Pulley's son, Collin Pulley, subsequently joined the family business and served in a variety of leadership roles, including vice president and president over the course of 43 years; and
WHEREAS, in addition to providing high-quality recliners, mattresses, bedroom sets, dining room sets, tables, and other pieces to local residents, Nottoway House Furniture offered regional delivery services, even serving customers as far away as Delaware, Tennessee, and South Carolina; and
WHEREAS, located on Southampton Parkway, Nottoway House Furniture played an important role in the Courtland community by donating to local charitable organizations and civic groups over the years; and
WHEREAS, Nottoway House Furniture provided jobs for numerous local residents and often sold furniture to multiple generations of the same families, demonstrating the unique role of local businesses in building a strong sense of community; and
WHEREAS, Nottoway House Furniture served its customers, employees, and the people of Courtland with care and integrity for its entire 70-year history; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Nottoway House Furniture hereby be commended for its 70 years of achievements in service to the residents of Courtland and customers across the eastern United States; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Collin Pulley, former owner and president of Nottoway House Furniture, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the business's long legacy of contributions to the Courtland community.
