Commending the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.

WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation was incorporated on February 26, 1926, as a voluntary, non-governmental, nonpartisan organization committed to supporting the Commonwealth's agriculture and forestry industries; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation's mission is to advance and improve the agricultural interests of the Commonwealth by uniting the efforts of county farm bureaus and other cooperating associations, organizations, and institutions; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth is home to 88 county farm bureau organizations that are members of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, operating more than 100 offices statewide and serving more than 136,000 member households; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has recognized the value of grassroots policy development and championed legislation to benefit farmers, becoming known as “The Voice of Virginia Agriculture”; and
WHEREAS, since the 1940s, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has provided leadership, advocacy, and educational opportunities for farm women, and since 1975, it has offered young farmers and farm families programs for networking, business development, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, in 1972, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation began offering grain marketing services to help farmers gain greater value for their commodities through buying and selling corn, wheat, soybeans, barley, oats, and milo at competitive market prices; and
WHEREAS, the products division of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation maintains a 60-year tradition of offering high-quality, affordable products to members, backed by exceptional service; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation is also the parent organization of the Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom program, the Virginia Farm Relief Fund, and the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture, Innovation and Rural Sustainability; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation has provided affordable and reliable auto, farm, crop, property, health, business, and life insurance products since 1950 to farmers and all Virginians through local agents; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation preserves the agricultural heritage of the Commonwealth and promotes community engagement as the owner and operator of The Meadow Event Park in Caroline County, which is the birthplace of Secretariat and the location of the State Fair of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation celebrated its 100th anniversary on February 26, 2026, as its members, leaders, and staff reflect on a century of service and plan for a strong future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation hereby be commended on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's legacy of service to farm families and rural communities throughout the Commonwealth.
