WHEREAS, Kevin B. Lyles, a respected community leader, dedicated public servant, and president of the Rotary Club of Newport News, died on November 8, 2025, leaving a legacy of service, integrity, and compassion; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from Rutherford High School in Panama City, Florida, Kevin Lyles earned an associate degree from Thomas Nelson Community College and a bachelor's degree in marketing from Christopher Newport University; and
WHEREAS, in his professional career, Kevin Lyles served as a banker and branch manager at NationsBank, financial advisor with Merrill Lynch and Wells Fargo Advisors, and vice president of community impact for United Way of the Virginia Peninsula; most recently, he was a community education coordinator for LifeNet Health, a leading provider of regenerative medicine and transplant solutions; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as president of the Rotary Club of Newport News, Kevin Lyles provided thoughtful leadership, fostered collaboration among members, and championed projects that promoted education, economic opportunity, and community well-being; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Lyles exemplified the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self,” devoting countless hours to advancing the mission of Rotary International and strengthening the Newport News community through civic engagement, charitable initiatives, and leadership; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Lyles was widely admired for his professionalism, generosity of spirit, and ability to inspire others to serve with purpose and humility; and
WHEREAS, beyond his Rotary service, Kevin Lyles was a trusted colleague, mentor, and friend whose positive influence extended throughout Newport News and the Greater Hampton Roads region; and
WHEREAS, Kevin Lyles will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Lisa; his children, Travis and Trent; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Kevin B. Lyles, a beloved member of the Newport News community whose kindness, generosity, and commitment to helping others made an impact on countless lives; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Kevin B. Lyles as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
