AN ACT Relating to increasing the availability of sexual assault 1
nurse examiners; and adding a new section to chapter 43.70 RCW.2
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:3
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 43.70 4
RCW to read as follows: 5
(1) Subject to the availability of amounts appropriated for this 6
specific purpose, the department shall establish a stipend program to 7
defray the out-of-pocket expenses incurred by registered nurses 8
completing the training necessary to become adult/adolescent or 9
pediatric sexual assault nurse examiners. 10
(2) The total amount of the stipend for any individual nurse may 11
not exceed $2,500. 12
(3) For purposes of this section, "out-of-pocket expenses" 13
include: 14
(a) Fees, tuition, educational materials, or other charges 15
imposed by the entity providing training; 16
(b) Reasonable travel expenses, including air travel, rental car 17
costs, mileage on a personal vehicle, lodging, and meals; and18
(c) Any other expenses deemed appropriate by the department.19
