AN ACT Relating to extending the expiration date for reporting 1
requirements on timber purchases; amending RCW 84.33.088; and 2
providing an expiration date. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
Sec. 1. RCW 84.33.088 and 2021 c 24 s 1 are each amended to read 5
as follows: 6
(1) A purchaser of privately owned timber in an amount in excess 7
of 200,000 board feet in a voluntary sale made in the ordinary course 8
of business must, on or before the last day of the month following 9
the purchase of the timber, report the particulars of the purchase to 10
the department as required in subsection (2) of this section.11
(2) The report required in subsection (1) of this section must 12
contain all information relevant to the value of the timber purchased 13
including, but not limited to, the following, as applicable: 14
Purchaser's name, address, and contact information; seller's name, 15
address, and contact information; sale date; termination date in sale 16
agreement; total sale price; legal description of sale area, sale 17
name if applicable; forest practice application/harvest permit number 18
if available; total acreage involved in the sale; estimated net 19
volume of timber purchased by tree species and log grade; and 20
description and value of property improvements. For the purposes of 21

(3) A purchaser of privately owned timber involved in a purchase 24
described in subsection (1) of this section, who fails to report a 25
purchase as required, may be liable for a penalty of $250 for each 26
failure to report, as determined by the department.27
(4) Privately purchased timber reports are confidential taxpayer 28
information under RCW 82.32.330. 29
(5) This section expires September 30, ((2025)) 2029.30
