AN ACT Relating to funding the state toxicology laboratories to 1
process submissions for drug and alcohol impairment cases in a timely 2
manner; and adding a new section to chapter 43.43 RCW.3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 43.43 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
The state patrol, subject to appropriation, must hire a 7
sufficient number of staff to ensure that the toxicology laboratory 8
or laboratories can process submissions for drug and alcohol 9
impairment cases within one week of the time the sample arrives at 10
the laboratory. The chief must submit to the house appropriations 11
committee and the senate ways and means committee, in accordance with 12
the office of financial management budget submittal guidelines, the 13
amount necessary to fund the toxicology labs as required in this 14
section. 15
