AN ACT Relating to chemicals in certain personal hygiene 1
products, including menstrual products and diapers; and creating a 2
new section. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. (1) The department of ecology, in 5
consultation with the department of health and community and social 6
justice organizations, must test the following types of products for 7
potentially harmful chemicals or chemical classes:8
(a) Disposable and reusable products designed to collect and 9
absorb urine and feces; or 10
(b) Disposable and reusable products regulated by the United 11
States food and drug administration that are designed to collect and 12
absorb menstruation or vaginal discharge. 13
(2) The department of ecology must provide a technical report on 14
the results of the tests to the appropriate committees of the 15
legislature by December 31, 2025. 16
