AN ACT Relating to requiring hospitals to offer immunizations for 1
influenza to inpatients 65 years of age or older and inpatients with 2
one or more chronic health conditions; and adding a new section to 3
chapter 70.41 RCW. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:5
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 70.41 6
RCW to read as follows: 7
(1) Beginning July 1, 2027, subject to the conditions in 8
subsection (2) of this section, each year beginning on October 1st 9
through March 1st of the following year, every hospital shall offer 10
immunizations for influenza to each inpatient of the hospital who is 11
65 years of age or older and each inpatient who, regardless of age, 12
has one or more chronic health conditions, unless that immunization 13
for influenza is contraindicated for the inpatient.14
(2) Offers to immunize an inpatient under subsection (1) of this 15
section: 16
(a) Are subject to the availability of the influenza vaccine at 17
the time the inpatient is receiving services at the hospital; and18
(b) Must be based on any applicable recommendations of the 19
advisory committee on immunization practices of the centers for 20
disease control and prevention. 21
