AN ACT Relating to exempting schools and school districts from 1
retail sales and use tax; adding a new section to chapter 82.08 RCW; 2
adding a new section to chapter 82.12 RCW; and creating a new 3
section. 4
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:5
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 82.08 6
RCW to read as follows: 7
(1) The tax levied by RCW 82.08.020 does not apply to sales made 8
to a school or a school district. 9
(2) For purposes of this section "school" means a public or 10
private school, educational institution, or educational program that 11
provides instruction to kindergarten through grade 12 students, 12
regardless of whether a grade level is assigned or whether the 13
program is designated elementary or secondary. 14
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. A new section is added to chapter 82.12 15
RCW to read as follows: 16
(1) This chapter does not apply to the use of personal property 17
by a school or school district. 18
(2) For purposes of this section "school" means a public or 19
private school, educational institution, or educational program that 20
