AN ACT Relating to establishing fee authority for accreditation 1
services provided to opioid treatment programs by the department of 2
health; and adding a new section to chapter 71.24 RCW.3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 71.24 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
(1) The department may apply for approval by the United States 7
department of health and human services to accredit opioid treatment 8
programs pursuant to the requirements in 42 C.F.R. Part 8.9
(2) If the department is approved by the United States department 10
of health and human services as an accrediting body under 42 C.F.R. 11
Part 8, the department shall: 12
(a) Execute its responsibilities as the accrediting body pursuant 13
to policies and procedures approved by the United States department 14
of health and human services; and 15
(b) Establish accreditation fees in rule. 16
(3) The department shall set accreditation fees including, but 17
not limited to, an initial accreditation fee and a renewal fee, at 18
levels sufficient to cover the costs associated with the 19
accreditation services it provides under 42 C.F.R. Part 8.20
