AN ACT Relating to motorcycle weight fees; amending RCW 46.17.365 1
and 46.17.365; providing effective dates; and providing an expiration 2
date. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
Sec. 1. RCW 46.17.365 and 2025 c 417 s 105 are each amended to 5
read as follows: 6
(1) A person applying for a motor vehicle registration and paying 7
the vehicle license fee required in RCW 46.17.350(1) (a), (d), (e), 8
(h), (j), (n), and (o) shall pay a motor vehicle weight fee in 9
addition to all other fees and taxes required by law.10
For vehicle registrations that are due or become due on or after 11
January 1, 2026, the motor vehicle weight fee: 12
(a) Must be based on the motor vehicle scale weight or type as 13
follows: 14

(b) If the resultant motor vehicle scale weight is not listed in 3
the table provided in (a) of this subsection, must be increased to 4
the next highest weight; and 5
(c) Must be distributed under RCW 46.68.415. 6
(2) A person applying for a motor home vehicle registration 7
shall, in lieu of the motor vehicle weight fee required in subsection 8
(1) of this section, pay a motor home vehicle weight fee of $75 in 9
addition to all other fees and taxes required by law. The motor home 10
vehicle weight fee must be distributed under RCW 46.68.415.11
(3) The department shall: 12
(a) Rely on motor vehicle empty scale weights provided by vehicle 13
manufacturers, or other sources defined by the department, to 14
determine the weight of each motor vehicle; and 15
(b) Adopt rules for determining weight for vehicles without 16
manufacturer empty scale weights. 17
