AN ACT Relating to requiring immediate law enforcement 1
notification of criminal actions on public school property; and 2
adding a new section to chapter 28A.320 RCW. 3
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:4
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 28A.320 5
RCW to read as follows: 6
(1) In addition to other notification requirements in this title, 7
a certificated or classified school employee, or a school contractor, 8
who has knowledge of or cause to believe that an assault, theft, or 9
destruction of property has occurred or will occur on school district 10
property, shall cause a report to be made immediately to the proper 11
law enforcement agency and appropriate school administrator.12
(2) This section governs school operation and management under 13
RCW 28A.710.040 and 28A.715.020, and applies to charter schools 14
established under chapter 28A.710 RCW and state-tribal education 15
compact schools subject to chapter 28A.715 RCW to the same extent it 16
applies to school districts. 17
