WHEREAS, More than 8,000 men and women of the Washington National 1
Guard continue to serve the country as guardians of American 2
interests at home and abroad; and 3
WHEREAS, These recognized leaders in state, regional, and 4
national preparedness, who reside in nearly every legislative 5
district throughout Washington, volunteer their time and put personal 6
lives aside when the needs of the people of Washington state arise; 7
and 8
WHEREAS, The Guard always answers the state's call in response to 9
all emergency efforts such as natural disasters to protect lives, 10
essential infrastructure, and property; and 11
WHEREAS, In 2022, the Guard deployed to Lewis County to provide 12
support to the communities dealing with rising waters, and just a 13
week later deployed to Leavenworth to assist with digging out the 14
small mountain community that was hit with record snow fall; and15
WHEREAS, In 2023, the Guard assisted in the relocation of 16
residents of Eastern State Psychiatric Hospital during the Gray fire 17
and Oregon Road fire and subsequently provided aviation assets to 18
reduce further loss of life, homes, and businesses; and19
WHEREAS, In 2024, the Guard supported the Secretary of State to 20
ensure the integrity of national, state, and local elections from 21
cyber threats; and 22

WHEREAS, The Guard continues to train for adaptation, capability, 1
and capacity to react to the rising challenges in a rapidly changing 2
world that poses a threat to United States national security at home 3
and abroad, including cyber threats and weapons of mass destruction; 4
and 5
WHEREAS, The Western Regional Counterdrug Training Center 6
provides training to law enforcement agencies and community-based 7
organizations to disrupt, degrade, and defeat drug trafficking and 8
transnational criminal organizations that threaten our communities; 9
and 10
WHEREAS, Washington National Guard soldiers and airmen continue 11
to provide critical support for federal missions with members 12
deployed to the Horn of Africa, Jordan, the Kingdom of Thailand, and 13
Malaysia; and 14
WHEREAS, The Guard continues to improve the lives of Washington's 15
young adults, many on the brink of dropping out of school, through 16
its Washington Youth ChalleNGe Academy; and 17
WHEREAS, The Guard adds value to communities by opening its 18
Readiness Centers for community and youth activities, and uses these 19
facilities to enhance education, add to quality of life, and increase 20
economic vitality; 21
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 22
of Representatives express its thanks and appreciation to the devoted 23
families and dedicated employers of our Washington National Guard 24
soldiers and airmen for their support, without whom the Guard's 25
missions could not be successful; and 26
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives 27
recognize the value and dedication of a strong Washington National 28
Guard to the viability, economy, safety, security, and well-being of 29
this state, both through the outstanding performance of its state 30
emergency and disaster relief mission, and through the continued 31
benefit to local communities by the presence of productively 32
employed, drug-free, well-equipped, and trained Guard units and the 33
Readiness Centers and Armories that house them; and34
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 35
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of 36
Representatives to the Adjutant General of the Washington National 37
Guard, the Governor of the state of Washington, the Secretaries of 38

the United States Army and Air Force, and the President of the United 1
