Keri Rawlings Rooney

WHEREAS, It has been the tradition of the Washington state House 1
of Representatives to honor significant and important contributions 2
to the public good made by employees of the state; and3
WHEREAS, Keri Rawlings Rooney has faithfully served the people of 4
the state of Washington for over 50 years in a variety of offices at 5
both the state and local level; and 6
WHEREAS, Keri has provided sage advice and sound counsel to 7
members of the legislature, governors, and other state elected 8
officials, members of congress, and local government officials; and9
WHEREAS, Keri is widely respected across the state for her 10
political acumen, legislative expertise, and knowledge of government 11
operations and is a key influencer in Pierce county; and12
WHEREAS, Keri played a major role in public policy development 13
during her tenure at the Washington state Senate, the Pierce county 14
auditor's office, office of the Pierce county executive, and office 15
of the state auditor; and 16
WHEREAS, Keri created and promoted a program to instill the value 17
of voting into children in the K–12 school system called "Voting is 18
Cool," which provided materials promoting democracy and the value of 19
casting a ballot to over 1,000 children; and 20
WHEREAS, Keri was an indispensable part of the success of both 21
the 2010 United States Amateur and 2015 United States Open golf 22

tournaments at Chambers Bay Golf Course to the benefit of her 1
community and the economy of the State; and 2
WHEREAS, During her distinguished career Keri mentored countless 3
people who launched careers in public service and carry on her legacy 4
of making a difference for the community; and 5
WHEREAS, Keri is known to one and all as a trusted friend, 6
respected colleague, and source of sound professional judgment;7
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington state House 8
of Representatives express its sincerest appreciation to Keri 9
Rawlings Rooney for 50 years of service to the people of the state of 10
Washington, for her dedication to the public good, and for her 11
friendship and support to her many friends and colleagues, and do 12
hereby extend best wishes to her as she enters retirement; and13
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be 14
immediately transmitted to Keri Rawlings Rooney. 15
