WHEREAS, We welcome to the House of Representatives the young 1
people here today, visiting the workspace of their legislature; and2
WHEREAS, In the state of Washington, we believe in leaving our 3
state a better place than we found it, as we don't inherit the earth, 4
we borrow it from our children; and 5
WHEREAS, Students are here all session working diligently serving 6
as pages and interns, and we hope their experience in Olympia 7
inspires them to remain informed and engaged in their democracy; and8
WHEREAS, We can learn much from children, as they are exposed 9
from birth to different places, languages, and people, and embrace 10
those new experiences with a smile and open arms; and11
WHEREAS, It is our solemn obligation to reflect on our 12
achievements and work towards the remaining progress needed to 13
accomplish and fulfill the rights of every child, prioritizing their 14
health, safety, and education; and 15
WHEREAS, We recognize the incredible potential that resides 16
within each child; 17
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives 18
encourage all the people of Washington to celebrate Children's Day 19
and to do whatever they can to help children and students thrive.20
