WHEREAS, On this day, we join citizens across the nation in 1
observing Presidents' Day, a time set aside to reflect on the 2
leadership and service of those who have served as President of the 3
United States; and 4
WHEREAS, Presidents' Day has long served as a moment for honoring 5
the achievements and enduring legacies of pivotal American leaders, 6
particularly George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, whose 7
contributions shaped the course of our nation's history; and8
WHEREAS, George Washington, the first President of our United 9
States, was instrumental in leading the country through the 10
challenges of the Revolutionary War and the early years of our 11
independence; and 12
WHEREAS, By voluntarily stepping down at the end of his second 13
term, George Washington set a crucial precedent for peaceful 14
transitions of power, a practice that has since become a cornerstone 15
of American democracy; and 16
WHEREAS, Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth President, is revered for 17
his steadfast leadership during the Civil War, preserving the Union 18
and writing the Emancipation Proclamation to end slavery; and19
WHEREAS, The significance of Presidents' Day is a celebration not 20
only of these two extraordinary figures, but of all presidents who 21
have shaped the country in their unique ways — each bringing their 22
unique vision, determination, and dedication to the office; and23

WHEREAS, The establishment of Presidents' Day as a national 1
observance highlights our nation's commitment to democratic ideals in 2
the continued pursuit of a more perfect Union; 3
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives 4
honor our nation's presidents for leaving a legacy of renowned 5
leadership in turbulent times and their immeasurable contributions to 6
the furtherment of liberty, equality, and justice in this country.7
