WHEREAS, It has been the tradition of the Washington State House 1
of Representatives to recognize excellence in every field of 2
endeavor; and 3
WHEREAS, The Columbia River High School Baseball Team, through 4
fortitude and a belief in one another's abilities, concluded their 5
outstanding 2023-2024 season with a historic victory in the state 6
championship; and 7
WHEREAS, Pitcher Noah Coakes pitched for all seven innings and 8
finished the season as the Greater St. Helens League Pitcher of the 9
Year and made the Greater St. Helens League baseball first all-league 10
team; and 11
WHEREAS, Shortstop Chris Parkin had three hits, a stolen base, 12
and a tying run batted in (RBI), and finished the season as the Class 13
2A state baseball player of the year; and 14
WHEREAS, Second baseman Zach Ziebell scored two runs and earned a 15
spot on the Greater St. Helens League baseball first all-league team; 16
and 17
WHEREAS, The baseball team exemplified their greatness and 18
resolve in the final inning as outfielder Charlie Palmersheim, who 19
had hit an RBI single, scored the go-ahead run off an RBI single by 20
first baseman Zayne Boyes. Additionally, infielders Harrison Hoffarth 21
and Nate Little contributed to the team's overall hit amount; and22

WHEREAS, Through his commitment to the sport of baseball and his 1
willingness to improve the lives of athletes in his community, Head 2
Coach Stephan Donohue earned the accolade of 2A Coach of the Year by 3
the Washington State Baseball Coaches Association; 4
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 5
of Representatives congratulate the Columbia River Rapids on their 6
extraordinary victory at the state baseball championship, and 7
congratulate Coach Stephen Donohue, the team's fans, and the 8
community of Vancouver for this accomplishment; and9
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 10
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of 11
Representatives to the Columbia River High School Baseball Team and 12
Head Coach Stephan Donohue. 13
