WHEREAS, It is the tradition of the Washington state legislature 1
to recognize and honor excellence in all fields and endeavors; and2
WHEREAS, The Apple Blossom Festival is the oldest major festival 3
in Washington, with the first festival being started in 1920, and it 4
attracts over 100,000 people over 11 days to the Wenatchee area; and5
WHEREAS, The festival's mission is to provide an annual family-6
oriented event that celebrates and showcases the people, heritage, 7
and fruit industry in that community; and 8
WHEREAS, Each year, three young women are chosen as queen and 9
princesses to represent the Apple Blossom Festival in their Royal 10
Court; and 11
WHEREAS, Ella Johnson was selected as queen and Daeja Carlson and 12
Yasmin Perez were selected as princesses for the 2025 Apple Blossom 13
Festival Royal Court; and 14
WHEREAS, Ella Johnson attends the River Academy, where she serves 15
as House Leader, leads a middle school girls Bible study, and helps 16
with middle school girls volleyball; she is a varsity athlete at 17
Wenatchee High School for golf, participates in Unified Basketball, 18
and played high school and club volleyball for three years; after 19
graduation, she plans to attend Point Loma Nazarene University to 20
double major in history and economics, in preparation for law school; 21
however, she is most excited about one day becoming a mom; she 22
desires to represent the Wenatchee Valley and the Apple Blossom 23

Festival by way of her servant's heart, her involvement and deep love 1
for the Valley's special community, and the compassion she pours out 2
to others based on the inspiration she derives from her faith; and3
WHEREAS, Daeja Carlson attends Wenatchee High School and 4
Wenatchee Valley College through Running Start and is an active 5
member of her church; she is the President of her Distributive 6
Education Clubs of America, the section editor for the Wenatchee High 7
School newspaper, and participates in various clubs including the 8
Technology Student Association, English Honors Society, and People's 9
First Club; she plans to attend San Diego State University to get her 10
doctoral degree in neuroscience, with a double-major in business, 11
hoping to have a private practice as a sports neuropsychologist; and 12
she desires to represent the Wenatchee Valley as a role model for 13
other young girls in the Valley, as an encouragement for younger 14
generations and as an uplifting Wenatchee Valley citizen; and15
WHEREAS, Yasmin Perez attends Eastmont High School and Wenatchee 16
Valley College through Running Start, where she is on the Dean's 17
List, demonstrating her dedication, hard work, and commitment to 18
academic excellence; she plays soccer and other sports with her 19
siblings and plays the guitar; she job shadows at a dental office to 20
learn more about health care and after graduation plans to pursue a 21
career in the medical field to help care and provide for others who 22
may not be aware of how to access proper care; and she desires to 23
represent the Wenatchee Valley as the first in her family to pursue a 24
college education while still in high school and as an encouragement 25
to others to persevere knowing that anything is possible;26
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 27
of Representatives honor and recognize the 2025 Apple Blossom 28
Festival Royal Court for their excellent achievements in their 29
studies, acts of service, sports, hobbies, and other pursuits; and30
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 31
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk to Queen Ella Johnson, 32
Princess Daeja Carlson, Princess Yasmin Perez, and the organizers of 33
the Apple Blossom Festival. 34
