WHEREAS, On January 29, 2025, Harry R. Anderson of Bainbridge 1
Island, Washington, became the first person in history to both fly 2
and sail solo to all seven continents; and 3
WHEREAS, Harry has flown solo in his small, single-engine 4
airplane, a Lancair Columbia 300, tail number N788W, around the world 5
twice, once eastbound in 2011 and once westbound in 2019. Harry has 6
been awarded Circumnavigator Diplomas from the Federation 7
Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) in Switzerland for those flights; 8
and 9
WHEREAS, On January 31, 2014, Harry landed his aircraft in 10
Antarctica, becoming only the fifth person to fly solo to all seven 11
continents; and 12
WHEREAS, On July 16, 2018, Harry flew solo in his aircraft over 13
the North Pole from Resolute, Canada, to Longyearbyen in the Svalbard 14
Islands, Norway. A transpolar flight of 10.5 hours covering more than 15
1,600 nautical miles; and 16
WHEREAS, On January 29, 2025, Harry arrived back in the United 17
States of America, completing his solo voyage to all seven continents 18
and a circumnavigation of the earth. He spent 350 days at sea, 19
traveling over 38,000 nautical miles on his 43-foot sailboat, an 20
Allures 40.9 named Phywave; and 21

WHEREAS, Harry's courageous solo flying and sailing achievements 1
can serve as an inspiration to other adventurers in the State of 2
Washington and around the World; 3
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 4
of Representatives recognize and honor the flying and sailing 5
achievements of Harry R. Anderson; and 6
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 7
transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to 8
Harry R. Anderson. 9
