WHEREAS, More than 8,000 men and women of the Washington National 1
Guard continue to serve the country as guardians of American 2
interests at home and abroad; and 3
WHEREAS, These recognized leaders in state, regional, and 4
national preparedness reside in nearly every legislative district 5
throughout Washington and continue to volunteer their time and place 6
their personal lives aside when the needs of the people of Washington 7
state arise; and 8
WHEREAS, The Washington National Guard consistently answers the 9
state's call in response to emergency efforts, including the recent 10
flood response operations, to protect lives, essential 11
infrastructure, and property during the severe weather events across 12
the state; and 13
WHEREAS, National Guard members conduct critical search and 14
rescue missions working alongside local, state, and federal agencies 15
to locate and assist individuals who have found themselves requiring 16
rescue in remote, mountainous, and disaster-affected areas; and17
WHEREAS, The Washington National Guard continues to play a 18
critical role in historic disaster response efforts, including 19
adapting lessons learned from the Oso landslide incident, reinforcing 20
the National Guard's commitment to emergency preparedness, recovery 21
operations, and community resilience; and 22

WHEREAS, Joint Base Lewis-McChord serves as a vital military 1
installation supporting training, readiness, deployment, and rapid 2
response missions that overall strengthen national security and 3
regional economic stability; and 4
WHEREAS, The Washington National Guard provides essential aerial 5
refueling capabilities, extending the operational reach of the United 6
States and other allied aircraft, thus supporting national defense, 7
humanitarian missions, and overseas operations; and8
WHEREAS, National Guard aviation units and wings continue to 9
achieve significant operational milestones and mission successes, 10
including leadership contributions and distinguished service by 11
National Guard personnel, reflecting professionalism and excellence 12
of Washington's National Guard forces; 13
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 14
of Representatives expresses its sincere thanks and appreciation to 15
the devoted families, employers, soldiers, airmen, and guardians of 16
the Washington National Guard for their unwavering service and 17
sacrifice; and 18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be 19
immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of 20
Representatives to the Adjutant General of the Washington National 21
Guard, the Governor of the state of Washington, and other appropriate 22
officials. 23
