WHEREAS, The State of Washington shares a history of strong 1
economic, political, environmental, and cultural ties with the 2
Province of Québec; and 3
WHEREAS, The Government of Québec demonstrated its commitment to 4
enhancing ties with Washington by opening an official representation, 5
the Delegation of Québec in Seattle, in May 2025; and6
WHEREAS, Washington values the investment of Québec-based 7
companies, which make a significant contribution to the state's 8
economy through more than 30 establishments operating across 9
Washington; and 10
WHEREAS, In 2024, the total bilateral trade between Washington 11
and Québec approached $850 million, making Québec an important 12
trading partner for the state; and 13
WHEREAS, Collaboration between businesses, governmental 14
institutions, and universities in both Washington and Québec fosters 15
fruitful cultural exchanges, new economic development opportunities, 16
continued innovation, and knowledge transfer; and 17
WHEREAS, The people of Washington and Québec share a strong 18
democratic tradition and a commitment to technological advancement 19
and research excellence; and 20
WHEREAS, Washingtonians and Québécois share strong competency and 21
recognized expertise in sectors of importance to both economies, 22
including energy, clean technologies, aerospace, artificial 23

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House 3
of Representatives recognize the benefits of the long-term 4
relationship and growing ties between the people of Washington State 5
with the people of the Province of Québec. 6
