WHEREAS, The people of Ireland and the people of Washington state 1
have formed a mutually prosperous relationship from across the 2
Atlantic Ocean; and 3
WHEREAS, The cities of Seattle and Galway have been sister cities 4
since 1986, engaging in trade, tourism, education exchange programs, 5
and other meaningful projects, which have improved the health and 6
well-being of the residents of both great cities for nearly 40 years; 7
and 8
WHEREAS, Ireland is known for innovation as a host for technology 9
companies with deep roots in Washington that continue to make 10
advancements in global technologies; and 11
WHEREAS, The people and economies of Washington state and Ireland 12
thrive due to trade in technology, aerospace, agriculture, and 13
energy, exceeding a total of one billion dollars annually;14
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington state House 15
of Representatives recognizes the strong partnership between the 16
people of our state and the people of Ireland. 17
